On Monday, May 23, 2023, our members continued the tradition of celebrating Rotary's Basic Education and Literacy Month by visiting the Los Pequeños Head Start Center. We had the pleasure of reading the book "The Big Umbrella" to the children, engaging them in a captivating storytelling session. Additionally, we explored their impressive vegetable and butterfly garden, further immersing ourselves in their learning environment.
Recent research emphasizes the long-lasting impact of reading and playing with young children, as it extends beyond language and early literacy skills, positively influencing their social and emotional development. This study reaffirms the importance of our visit and the meaningful interactions we had with the children.
The children at the Head Start Center expressed their gratitude by creating a heartfelt Thank You card, adorned with their colorful handprints. Their appreciation touched us deeply, making the entire experience truly inspiring.
